Myofunctional Therapy

Helping You Create Healthy Habits With Personalized Therapy

What if Myofunctional Therapy Could Help?

What if a customized therapy plan could relieve tension and pain, and have you sleeping better and feel less fatigued?

What if OMT could help chewing and swallowing not feel so hard anymore, and you could start eating the foods you want?

What if OMT could prevent orthodontic relapse and protecting your investment in orthodontic treatment?

What if OMT could help on a cellular level with better breathing, oxygenation, regulating blood pressure, improving circulation and blood flow, improving cognitive and overall health, and fighting off pathogens?

What if OMT could help your child start sleeping through the night, help with speech and articulation, relieve ADHD symptoms , stop bedwetting,  support proper cranial facial growth, help with picky eating, help eliminate unhealthy habits, help with emotional regulation, and help with digestive issues?

What if OMT could help with grinding and clenching your teeth at night, and save you from costly dental repairs?

What if OMT made such a significant difference in you or your child? Would it be worth it to learn therapy exercises that can be performed in less than 20 minutes a day?

Goals Of OMT (Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy)

Nasal Breathing

Nasal breathing filters, moistens and warms the air particles as it passes through the nasal cavity into the lungs, increasing nitric oxide which reduces inflammation and improves airway function. Nitric Oxide (NO) is only produced in the nasal passages and plays a crucial role in breathing by acting as a vasodilator. Without nasal breathing your body isn’t getting Nitric Oxide.

Proper Tongue Rest Posture

Our tongue is nature’s palatal expander and allows the face to grow in an forward and horizontal growth pattern.  A low or incorrect tongue posture can contribute to a narrow palate and airway by failing to provide outward pressure on the upper jaw and affecting bone development.

Swallowing Correctly

Swallowing improperly is a dysfunctional swallowing pattern in which a person pushes the tongue forward or between the teeth during swallowing instead of directing upward and back during proper swallowing.  This can look like a tongue thrust, and overuse of lip and facial muscles to assist with swallowing.  Swallowing is a muscular act that happens 800 to 2000 times daily!

Correct Mouth Posture

Our Lips are nature’s braces, keeping the lips together sealed during rest and chewing allows the facial muscles to work harmoniously without overuse.  Overuse of muscles can lead to strain and tension.
